The college, originally known as the Wesleyan Methodist Bible College, came into existence as the result of an earnest desire on the part of many Christians for a Wesleyan theological training centre in Australia. With the assistance of generous Wesleyans in the U.S.A. and Canada, the property of Glenroy was purchased and the college opened in 1948 with an enrolment of six students.

A steady stream of students has passsed through the college in the ensuing years, seeking preparation for various ministries in Christian service. Preserving its commitment to spiritual, theological and educational excellence, coupled with a desire for practical relevance, the college today is better prepared than ever to fulfill its task. The complex demands of today's society have led to the introduction of new programs appropriate for these times and effective in preparing students to meet the most challenging circumstances.

Rev. Peter Dobson leads a team of dedicated men and women whose prayer is that students will grow toward spiritual and personal maturity through all aspects of college life and be effective in their Christian service. In 1974 a significant name change was effected. From that time the institution has been known as Kingsley College. Begun as a faith venture, Kingsley grew from the vision in the heart of one man of God... and has been nurtured by the prayer and sacrifice of many whose desire has been, and is, to serve God and His Church.
